Acceptance of Terms

By accessing or using mapsmith.app, the Mapsmith WordPress plugin, or the Mapsmith Pro companion plugin (collectively, "the Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

Description of Service

"Mapsmith" refers to two distinct pieces of software produced by Strode Media Co:

  • The Mapsmith WordPress plugin — distributed free of charge on the WordPress.org plugin directory under the GPLv2-or-later license. This plugin is fully functional and ships with every feature listed on this site at no cost.
  • The Mapsmith Pro companion plugin — an optional commercial add-on distributed exclusively from mapsmith.app, sold under an annual subscription. Pro adds features that are not part of the WordPress.org build (such as priority support and the additional capabilities listed on the Pricing page) and requires a valid license key to activate.

The "Service" also includes mapsmith.app, the account dashboard, the licensing API, and any documentation we publish.

Accounts

You must create an account on mapsmith.app to purchase a Pro or Agency subscription. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your password and for all activity under your account. You must provide a valid email address. We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms.

Licenses

When you purchase a Mapsmith Pro or Agency subscription, you receive a non-exclusive, non-transferable right to install and activate the Mapsmith Pro companion plugin on the number of WordPress sites permitted by your plan. License keys are personal to your account and may not be shared, resold, or redistributed.

  • Pro — use on up to 1 production WordPress site (staging environments matching your production URL pattern do not count).
  • Agency — use on unlimited WordPress sites.

Subscriptions are billed annually. The free Mapsmith plugin from WordPress.org never requires a license key and is not affected by the activation or expiration state of any Pro subscription.

Open Source License (Free Plugin)

The Mapsmith WordPress plugin distributed on WordPress.org is licensed under the GNU General Public License v2.0 or later. You may use, modify, and redistribute that plugin in accordance with the GPL. These Terms of Service do not modify your rights under the GPL with respect to that plugin.

Prohibited Uses

You may not:

  • Reverse-engineer, decompile, or create derivative works from the Mapsmith Pro companion plugin or its license-server code.
  • Redistribute, sublicense, or resell the Mapsmith Pro companion plugin or license keys.
  • Use the Service to violate any applicable law or regulation.
  • Attempt to circumvent the license activation system.
  • Use automated tools to create accounts, generate license keys, or abuse the API.

Payment

All payments are processed by Stripe. Prices are listed in US dollars. By completing a purchase, you authorize us to charge the payment method provided through Stripe. You are responsible for any applicable taxes.

Intellectual Property

The Mapsmith brand, the mapsmith.app website, the Mapsmith Pro companion plugin, and all associated documentation are the intellectual property of Strode Media Co. Your subscription grants you the right to use the Pro plugin, not ownership of the underlying code or assets. The free WordPress.org plugin is governed by the GPL as described above.

Disclaimer of Warranties

The Service is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind, express or implied. We do not guarantee that the plugin will be error-free, uninterrupted, or compatible with every WordPress configuration, theme, or hosting environment.

Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Strode Media Co shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising out of or related to your use of the Service. Our total liability shall not exceed the amount you paid for your subscription in the 12 months preceding the claim.

Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms of Service at any time. Material changes will be communicated via the email address on your account. Continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised terms.

Governing Law

These terms are governed by the laws of the United States. Any disputes shall be resolved in the courts of the state in which Strode Media Co operates.
